The Website is operated by Al Malaikah Shriners, doing business as Shriners Museum (“Shriners Museum,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Additional terms may apply to purchases, donations, events, memberships, tours, promotions, or other services. If additional terms conflict with these Terms, the additional terms will control for the applicable transaction or service.

The Website provides information about Shriners Museum, its collections, exhibitions, history, programs, events, and related activities.

We try to keep Website content accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that all information is complete, accurate, or current. Exhibitions, collections, programs, hours, admission terms, availability, and other information may change without notice. Please confirm time-sensitive information before traveling or making plans.

Website content is provided for general informational and educational purposes. It is not professional, medical, legal, financial, historical-authentication, appraisal, or other specialized advice.

3. Eligibility and minors

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Website only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

The Website is intended for a general audience. Children should not submit personal information, make purchases or donations, register for programs, or upload content without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

  • use the Website in a manner that could damage the museum, its visitors, its systems, or others.

We may restrict or terminate access to the Website when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or access presents a legal, operational, or security risk.

5. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, the Website and its contents—including text, graphics, photographs, images, audiovisual materials, exhibition content, databases, designs, logos, trademarks, and software—are owned by or licensed to Shriners Museum and are protected by intellectual-property laws.

Your use of the Website does not transfer ownership of any content or intellectual-property rights to you.

You may view Website content and make limited copies for personal, noncommercial research or educational use when permitted by law, provided that you:

  • preserve all copyright and attribution notices;

  • do not alter the content in a misleading manner;

  • do not imply sponsorship or endorsement; and

  • comply with any restrictions displayed with the content.

Separate rights may apply to collection objects and their images. An object may be in the public domain while a photograph, description, trademark, donor restriction, or other related material remains protected. You are responsible for determining whether your intended use requires permission.

Shriners Museum’s name, logos, program names, and related marks may be trademarks or service marks owned by or licensed to us. Other names and marks appearing on the Website belong to their respective owners.

Nothing in these Terms grants permission to use any trademark without the prior written authorization of its owner.

7. User submissions

If the Website allows you to submit comments, photographs, stories, documents, reviews, or other material (“Submissions”), you retain any ownership rights you hold in that material.

By providing a Submission, you grant us a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, and display it as reasonably necessary to operate the Website, respond to your request, or provide the service for which it was submitted. We will request additional permission before using a private submission in an unrelated public-facing publication unless the submission process expressly states otherwise.

You represent that:

  • you have the right to provide the Submission;

  • the Submission does not infringe another person’s rights;

  • the Submission is not knowingly false, unlawful, threatening, or malicious; and

  • the Submission does not contain malware or harmful code.

Do not submit confidential, sensitive, or irreplaceable material unless we specifically request it through an appropriate process.

8. Purchases, tickets, and registrations

If purchases, tickets, tours, or event registrations are available through the Website:

  • prices, availability, restrictions, and applicable fees will be disclosed during the transaction;

  • you agree to provide accurate and complete transaction information;

  • admission and participation may be subject to separately posted museum or event rules; and

  • cancellation, exchange, and refund rights are governed by the terms shown at checkout and applicable law.

9. Donations

Unless expressly stated otherwise, donations are voluntary, nonrefundable gifts used to support Shriners Museum. 

Any statement about tax deductibility is subject to applicable law and the donor’s individual circumstances. Donors should retain their receipts and consult a qualified tax adviser. We do not provide tax advice.

Recurring donations, if offered, may be canceled through email at info@shrinersmuseum.org Cancellation will apply to future charges and will not ordinarily reverse completed donations.

10. Promotions

Sweepstakes, contests, or other promotions may be governed by separate official rules. If those rules conflict with these Terms, the official rules will control for that promotion.

11. Third-party services and links

The Website may contain links to or embedded services from third parties, including mapping, video, social-media, ticketing, payment, donation, or registration providers.

We provide these features for convenience and do not control third-party services. Their terms and privacy practices apply when you use them. A link does not necessarily constitute our sponsorship or endorsement of the third party or its content.

12. Accessibility

We are committed to making the Website accessible to people with disabilities. Information about our accessibility efforts and how to request assistance is available in our Acessibility Statement.

Our collection and handling of personal information through the Website are described in our Privacy Policy.

If the Website hosts user-generated content and relies on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act’s safe-harbor procedures, a legally compliant designated-agent notice and counter-notification process must be published separately.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim warranties that are not expressly stated, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement.

We do not warrant that the Website will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shriners Museum and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to the Website.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for claims arising from or related to the Website will not exceed the greater of:

  • the amount you paid directly to us for the specific Website service giving rise to the claim during the preceding 12 months; or

  • US $100.

These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot lawfully be limited, which may include liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or personal injury caused by negligence.

Some jurisdictions do not permit particular exclusions or limitations. In those jurisdictions, the provisions above apply only to the extent permitted.

17. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from:

  • your unlawful use of the Website;

  • your material violation of these Terms; or

  • a Submission that infringes another person’s rights.

This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own unlawful conduct, negligence, or willful misconduct.

18. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Subject to any rights you have under applicable consumer law, legal proceedings arising from these Terms or the Website must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles, California, and the parties consent to those courts’ jurisdiction.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking relief in an appropriate small-claims court or from exercising rights that cannot legally be waived.

19. Changes to the Website or these Terms

We may modify the Website and these Terms periodically. Updated Terms will be posted with a revised “Last updated” date.

Changes apply prospectively when posted unless applicable law requires additional notice or consent. Your continued use of the Website after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those Terms.

20. Severability and waiver

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the greatest extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will remain effective.

A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

21. Entire agreement

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any applicable additional terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning use of the Website. They supersede prior communications concerning that use.
